Mark Lauer is the General Manager of the Sheraton Grand Chicago. In his role, Lauer is responsible for overseeing all of the operations, finance, sales and marketing efforts for the hotel that is known to host many high-profile groups and conventions.
Most recently Lauer was the General Manager at the Hilton New York Midtown. Throughout his 30-plus year career, which started in Chicago at the Downtown Marriott, Lauer has held a number of leadership roles, including Hotel Manager at The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. From Salt Lake City to San Francisco, Seattle and Omaha, Lauer has a proven track record and a wealth of experience that he brings with him to the Windy City property.
Lauer received his degree from Loyola University in Chicago. His passion for the industry is evident by the long list of organizations which he lent his time and expertise to throughout his career. He was an active board member for the Hotel Association of New York City, Avenue of the Americas Association, and served as an adjunct professor at the Tisch School of Hospitality at NYU. Lauer also sat on the board of directors for the Historical Hotels of America, Omaha Chamber of Commerce and the Nebraska Hotel/Motel Association.
Andy Markus is the Hotel Manager of the Sheraton Grand Chicago. Andy has been with Starwood since 2004, where he was a Banquet Manager at Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites. Since then he has served in various roles in Indianapolis hotels to include Front Office Manager, Director of Rooms and Director of Operations. Prior to joining Starwood Andy was the Director of Food & Beverage at the Brickyard Crossing Gold Resort at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He attended Indiana University.
Complex Director of Sales and Marketing
Cat Carter is the Complex Director of Sales and Marketing at the Sheraton Grand Chicago. With over a decade of hospitality experience, Cat is responsible for overseeing the Sales and Marketing teams at the 1,218-room Sheraton Grand Chicago and the 429 room Westin Chicago River North.
Before moving to Chicago, Cat held various leadership roles in sales and marketing with The Westin Arlington, The Westin Alexandria and most recently The Westin Georgetown. She has frequently been recognized by Starwood Hotels and Resorts for her sales expertise.
Cat holds a Masters of Tourism and Administration from George Washington University.
Director of Catering and Event Management
Vince Fattore is the Director of Catering and Event Management at the Sheraton Grand Chicago. In his role, Vince is responsible for overseeing the catering and event management operations for the 1,218-room property which offers more than 125,000 square feet of meeting space. Under his leadership, Vince and his team were recognized as Starwood’s 2008 and 2014 Catering and Event Management Team of the Year for North America.
Vince has been in the Hospitality industry for 30 years, beginning his career with Hilton Hotels holding several positions in food & beverage, operations and sales. Vince has an active role in the community with his professional memberships including NACE, CEC, Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Magnificent Mile Association and IHLA.
